The subject of redeeming the time is very broad, and has many different applications, but, for today, I just want to mention a few thoughts on this in reference to making time for the "spare time" business we are trying to run.
The dictionary definition for "redeem" is:
1. to buy or pay off; clear by payment: to redeem a mortgage.
2.
to buy back, as after a tax sale or a mortgage foreclosure.
3.
to recover (something pledged or mortgaged) by payment or other satisfaction: to redeem a pawned watch.
4.
to exchange (bonds, trading stamps, etc.) for money or goods.
So, redeeming the time, actually means to buy back the time,. This means it is going to cost us something. We have to deliberately plan, allocate, and make sacrifices necessary, to accomplish the things we have to do, in order to start, or keep, a second business going!
This shows the importance of figuring out our priorities, writing down a plan of action, and then allocating the time necessary to accomplish these goals. And after we do all of this, we must develop the self discipline to stick to our plan! Because none of this will do us any good if we do not put it into practice on a regular basis, and make it a habit in our lives.
I know I have barely scratched the surface on this important subject, but I hope I have given you some thoughts on this that will be of value. How we manage our time is truly crucial. With just a little planning, it is amazing how much more we can accomplish each day! If any of us are honest with ourselves, we must admit we squander so much time that could be put to better use!
The understanding of redemption, and redeeming the time, as mentioned in the bible, are also very interesting and important subjects, and, Lord willing, I will write posts on these in the near future.
