It is important to examine ourselves, and consider what or who we are placing our trust in, as regards to our standing with God. To say that this is important is a tremendous understatement, because our standing with God is the most important matter we will ever need to settle. Putting our trust, beliefs, hopes or confidence in the wrong person or thing will lead to eternal separation from God in Hell!
"We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind." Isaiah 64:6 (NLT)
Our enemy, the Devil, is very clever. He seeks to deceive us by making us think we are good enough of ourselves to please God, but don't believe him!
"Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. " 1 Peter 5:8 (NLT).
Believing that God sent His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to suffer, shed His sinless blood, and die on the cross as the payment for our sins, is the only way to acceptance with God!
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6.
Unless we seriously and honestly consider these things, we can be sinking in quicksand, lost in our sins, and on our way to Hell, and not even realize it!
"He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." Psalms 40:2 (NLT).

“This is the true grace of God wherein ye stand” (1 Peter 5:12).
Dear reader, how do you stand with God? Are you seeking to stand before Him in your own merit? Are you relying on church membership, baptism, confirmation, lodge membership, or your good reputation? None of these can give us a place before God. It must be, and can only be, “the true grace of God wherein ye stand” before Him. We can only stand before God in the merits of Another, His beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. We read in God’s Word of a coming time when “the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; and said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: for the great day of His wrath is come: and who shall be able to stand?” “Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.” Be sure that you stand before God in Christ, “accepted in the Beloved,” entering “by faith into this grace wherein we stand.”
I have no merit of my own
To bring before a holy God;
I must be cleansed by Jesus’ blood,
As God has told me in His Word.
To bring before a holy God;
I must be cleansed by Jesus’ blood,
As God has told me in His Word.
