"Nor yet that He should offer Himself often... but now once in the end of the world hath He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation." Hebrews 9:25-28.
In the Old Testament, under the law, God required that animals must be killed, and their blood be offered as a sacrifice for the sins of the people. However, this was an imperfect sacrifice, and had to be repeated annually. Only the blood of a perfect, sinless, sacrifice could take away sin forever.
"... without Shedding of blood is no remission." (forgiveness) Hebrews 9:22.
"For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins." Hebrews 10:4.
Jesus Christ came into this world for the purpose of dying, and shedding His precious blood, and being that perfect, sinless, sacrifice for our sin! And because this was a perfect sacrifice, it only had to be done once!
Have you received the Lord Jesus as your Personal Lord and Savior? It is one thing to agree with these truths about Jesus' death, but another to realize that we are are all lost and on our way to Hell eternally, if we don't believe that Jesus died for us. There is no other way to obtain salvation, and have the assurance of eternal life in Heaven, without trusting in Jesus, and His finished work on Calvarys' cross. Jesus loved you enough to die for you, do not refuse the free gift of salvation He now offers you!
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13.
What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
